Explorer + New BKP Black Dogs = ?

My Gibson Explorer is a great guitar.  It plays well, is well balanced, etc.  The only thing that has bothered me off and on is the 496R/500T pickup combo.  Not that they sounded bad (especially after some height adjustments)... I just was thinking how much better the guitar could sound with new 500k CTS pots, new pickups, etc.

After some searching/thinking/etc I settled on doing a complete rewire using CTS pots, an Orange Drop cap, and... new BKP Black Dog pickups.

BKP Black Dogs + Cookie Game

Pots, Caps, pushback wire, new switch (just in case)

The wiring went smooth considering my crappy soldering skills...

Gibson Les Paul Studio Bonamassa - Heavy Tones

Here's a run through of my LP Bonamassa playing some heavy stuff.

I did not do every amp from a mix perspective but do have raw tracks for everything.  Instead I did three clips:  JVM, Mark V, and a mix of Mesa/Marshall.  I have reamps for the 6505+ but didn't do any mixing with them.

1st up - JVM

1960a Mics - Sennheiser on t75, 57 on V30

Mad Scientist Mix - Mark V and JVM (with above settings) on the Left, RA-100 / Recto (Modern Red) on the Right, Mark V with a little RA-100 in the solo.  The Protone Misha sig is being used as a boost for the Recto and the RA-100 (Vintage Hi).

Gibson Les Paul (EMGs) Heavy Tones (Part 6 - Mesa RA-100)

The last set of heavy tones with the Les Paul with EMGs into the Mesa Royal Atlantic RA-100 head.  For the both the rhythm and lead tones used the Vintage Hi Channel, 100 watts, no multisoak.  For a boost I used the Protone Misha Mansoor OD.  The cab I plugged into is the Mesa Recto 4x12 which is miked up with an SM57 and an MD 421 (same mic setup as the Dual Rec and Mark V)

Again this was done with a reamp box.
